If you know anything about Buried N Kulture, you know we are always going to be down with the South.
So when the opportunity came for BNK to collaborate with DJ Wally Sparks and be part of Twankle & Glisten: Dirty South Classics, it just made sense.
Twankle & Glisten is an annual Atlanta event centered around something I feel like we don't always get enough of when we go out: Southern music being celebrated for what it is and what it has contributed to culture.
Not just a few Atlanta records thrown into a set. I'm talking about a night where the South gets to be the main character.
Atlanta. Memphis. Houston. New Orleans. Miami. The records we grew up hearing, the songs that immediately take you back somewhere, and the music that helped shape what hip-hop sounds like today.
Being Part of Twankle & Glisten
This year was extra special because Buried N Kulture got to be part of the experience.
We collaborated on a limited-edition Twankle & Glisten x Buried N Kulture hat, and seeing people walking around the party wearing something we created for the night was probably one of my favorite parts of the entire experience.
The hats went crazy.
But even beyond the product, I loved being at the BNK table and getting a chance to actually interact with everybody who came over. Some people already knew the brand. Some were being introduced to Buried N Kulture for the first time. People stopped to talk, purchase, take pictures and ask about what we were doing.
Those moments matter to me because BNK has never just been about putting a logo on something.
Buried N Kulture is about documenting, celebrating and preserving Southern culture.
And this night felt like that in real time.
This Is Why Events Like This Matter
There was something about being in a room and hearing Southern record after Southern record that reminded me just how deep our musical history is.
There are so many different sounds within the South. Atlanta doesn't sound like Memphis. Memphis doesn't sound like New Orleans. New Orleans doesn't sound like Houston. Miami has its own history. But somehow, when you put all of it together, you understand just how much the South has given music.
That's what I appreciated about Twankle & Glisten.
It wasn't about treating Southern music like a theme for a night. It felt like a celebration of something that deserves to be celebrated.
And DJ Wally Sparks has the history and knowledge to make that experience feel authentic.
The Good Part? It Happens Every Year.
If you missed Twankle & Glisten this year, don't make that mistake next year.
This isn't a party that happens every weekend. Twankle & Glisten is an annual event, which is part of what makes it special. Every year there's another opportunity to get together in Atlanta and celebrate the music and culture of the South.
